Poetry:

Words

To Glimpse Eternity

“A consummate transcendence lives only in your dreams.”
“An unconscious unfolding,” is all the fool esteems.
“You’re a wisp to be snuffed, O Sisyphean clod!
You can’t help but revel in this novel façade.”

“Look to the heavens!” cries the wise to the fool.
“Are there none who understand, who seek the jewel behind the jewel?
Our lives are brief wisps that we long to be complete,
Not futile in our thinking, where the heart loves dark conceit.”

Sweeping through stardust from a comet in flight
Bathes these parched orbs in showers of light
Younger by far than the sky’s starry host,
Which ignited the passion in the ancients’ riposte.

Massive luna moths laboring by,
Delicate forms hovering – to mate, and to die.
Luminous creatures cloaked in sleep
Harbor more mysteries of the deep.

Consider the seed, this embryonic wonder
Welling with life, reverberating like thunder
Through generations unseen and unhinged from these cares,
The gestation of hope is plucked from the tares.

Be still for a moment to leave the moments behind.
Time will catch up whether kind or unkind.
But this inspired twinkling must have full sway -
Sweeping into the Spirit, let it breathe, let it pray.

All that I see, and all that I hear:
Temporal echoes that fade, an evaporating tear.
Disposable diamonds redeemed for a price
Reflect the unseen and glimpse paradise.

Numinous the wyrd that binds us in awe
To ply and reply the Giver’s golden law.
Rising visage of brotherhood is glimpsed in the Son,
Engendering mercies never undone.
